The "girls" (Barbara, Jill, Sarah) and I went hiking in two different places today! The weather was PERFECT....it got humid this afternoon, but overall was pretty enjoyable. We drove about an hour and a half to Kings River Falls, and then about 45 minutes to Glory Hole. Then, it was about an hour and 45 minute drive home. We listened to bluegrass, chatted, and enjoyed being out of school. :)

Fun! :)

There was this incredible "hole" in the ground called Glory Hole that water ran through. Stunning!

This is what happens when I try to balance the camer on a rock, run quickly over the smooth, muddy rocks to get into the picture in time :)

I made a bandana for Kyla tonight that was SUPPOSED to be a pirate's bandana (because Becca says the kids have been going around saying "Argg" and she made them a treasure map), however, I made it too small so instead I figure she can use it on her dolls. :) See how versatile it is? :)

Cowgirl
Pirate or Doctor :)

I sewed my first little baby girl dress today for Lainey :). I think it turned out okay. (remember, I'm picky about the stuff I make!)
The dress ties on the shoulders. We'll see if (and when ) it fits her!
Yum! Perfect summer dessert!
See what momma and I did on my sewing/embroidery machine?!

Today was the last day of school for the kids! One of my students brought me this flower corsage you see on my shirt-it is beautiful. It's made of something that looks like raffia or straw...he is Marshallese and said his grandmother made it.
This is our view of the lake when we go out at night.................last weekend there were so many lightning bugs along the trees on the shore it looked sparkly. Pretty!

Ha! A friendly reminder to drink enough water! This is what Brett and I take out when we go mow or work on fence at the farm....

in other news, I am 95% sure we have sold the condo! The neighbor down the street is very interested in it (his mother, who lives in China is actually the one wanting to buy it)...we are just waiting to have the "final word", and do the paperwork!

Also, we met with a builder on our site today, and have two others looking at our house plans....things are movin' right along and I wouldn't rather have anybody to move right along with than Brett....... :)

My handsome husband :).
We went for a date on the boat tonight. We went fishing, had some crackers, cheese, and salami...fancy olives, and some great nectarines.
Didn't catch any fish :( and they were being a tease! We could see/hear fish jumping everywhere but they weren't interested in our bait....Oh well. It was fun anyway!

"oh no-my hat!"
Brett rescued my hat after it flew off my head :).
Neato bug on our door at home.
Sometimes (most of the time), it's the simple things that add up to mean the most :).

I made a new recipe this week! These are called "Greek Wraps" and had all kinds of yummy things inside! (Greek yogurt, cucumber, onion, black olive, lettuce, parsley, mint, salt, fresh jalapeno)
They also had chicken inside as well (this is the filling)
I just love Greek yogurt! Can't beat the fat content either :).
I'm wishing it wasn't so expensive..
Well, one more day of school to go! I am teaching summer school this summer and am excited about it! Another girl and I will have 30 kids total and will be teaching for the month of June.
The good part? It's going to be a very hands-on, activities and inquiry based summer school! We'll be reading and writing daily, as well as doing lots of fun things focusing on three themes:
Camping
Water/Grossology (science and our bodies)
Art/Economics
We'll also be going on field trips and will be traveling to: Terra Studios, Botanical Garden, Fishing, Tropical Smoothie, U.S. Pizza, Hobbs State Park
Brett and I are going on vacation in July to St. John Island as well! Busy, busy summer!

:)
