Memorial Day 2010:
boat, relaxing on rafts, picnic lunch on boat, fishing (but no fish), spending time with Brett, grilling out, and being thankful for the freedom we have in our country.
Thankful for a sweet husband to take care of me and help me around the house (he cleaned the shower for me this morning-one of my least favorite chores).
Thankful for health, sunny weather, and family :).
Thankful that my favorite Tevas are still going strong for year three (hey-it's the small things!)

"This is the life".
p.s.-Momma, thank-you for the strawberry jam-very. very. VERY. good! :)

Saturday in the country:

We went to Sam's 30th birthday party in Alma today and got to see Sam and Becca's new house! We also went for a country drive, and I took Brett to A to Z for a quick visit-it was his first!

Can you guess what we got today?
House plans! (Real, official plans ready for a builder, which we're still picking out!)
Take a look around. :) We sure do like what we see. :)
(and no, the "playroom" isn't a subtle hint at ANYTHING-we're thinking about the future here folks, don't get any ideas. This room will actually be a nursery/playroom someday)
There are two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs..
and the "study" downstairs (a library/office area) will also have a stove.
We will have a wood burning fireplace in the living room, which is open to the kitchen. The laundry room will also double as my craft room and will have a built in desk for me :), with countertops and cabinets. We won't have an official "dining room" but will have the area right next to the kitchen for a farm table and benches.

hooray, hooray, hip hip hooray!

I've been a bit absent from the blog lately because I've been working on details for Lainey's shower (Jana's little girl that will be born in a few weeks!)
We had a big crowd at our condo :) and it was great fun! It was nice because people came and lingered and ate snacks.......

A few of the guests!

My momma and mom-in-law

Mikayla and I made nest cookies and Kyla was really enjoying one!

Friends for life :)

A few of the decorations and details :)

The teal flowery ball hanging in between the pictures above was actually this small paper lantern I covered with cut out circles from material.

What fun this shower was!

Today we went for a weekly weeknight visit to the farm to mow (I did it the whole yard today with no help! ) and Jack grilled for Brett and I. Brett and Jack set this old Coke machine up that used to be their dads in the 60's (it still works)

Breakfast Bash was tonight at my condo to celebrate Mikayla's birthday! The girls came over in their pj's and we watched The Blind Side. :)
Yum-hot chocolate!
A closer look at the Waffle Bar-complete with whipped topping, blueberries, apple butter, powdered sugar, strawberries, and peanut butter. We also had turkey sausage, juice, and hot drinks!

A beautiful tree from yesterday!
We met last week with the man drawing up our house plan. We have tweaked and changed house plans several times over the last few months, but are certain and confident-THIS is the plan :). We are having a few slight changes-but nothing major. I will have a craft/sewing room in with the laundry room, and the dining room area will function as a room, not a dining room. Also, we will have a stove in the study, as well as a wood burning fireplace in the great room. :)

Today Brett walked in the U of A graduation ceremony! I am so proud. :) He has one class left to take, and then is done for good with his master's degree!

This beautiful barn is on the way to the farm, which is where we headed after the graduation ceremony. Brett pulled off the road and into the ditch so I could get out and walk through grass up to my waist and take a picture. :)
We went and fished the pond for about 30 minutes, and as you can tell, we had success!

:)
